Reflection

Furusato

At the end of the first semester of my Japanese class we were learning several different Japanese songs. We translated them first so that we would understand what they said, then we sung along with them on tapes and CD’s. One of the songs we were given was called “Furusato” or “Hometown”. The song was about ones home and roots. After translating this into English, we practiced the song several times until most of my classmates had memorized it. Then our teacher surprised us by giving us the assignment to sing it in front of the class. I was very nervous because another of my weaknesses is presenting things to a group of people. I learned how to present myself in front of a group and I enjoyed singing this song. This proves my mastery of the ESLR of Effective Communicator because I presented in front of a group effectively and overcame my shyness.
